Uma certa vez, um deus disse a Sócrates que ele era o homem mais sábio dos sábios. Mas Sócrates quiz saber porque o deus havia dito que ele era mais sábio daqueles que se diziam ser.
Quando conversou com um sábio, viu que o mesmo só suponha ser sábio, mas não é, pois pensa que sabe, mas não sabe nada, enquanto Sócrates, mesmo sabendo tão pouco, sabia que não sabia de nada.
Aí que percebeu sua grande sabedoria, algo que os ‘sábios’ não sabiam.
Reconhecer que não sabe é a base para começar a saber a verdade.
Passou a refletir isto com a mocidade, gente com a mente mais pura e aberta do que os já corrompidos pelo ego. Os jovens entendiam, admiravam e percebiam essas falsas sensações nos outros. Tentavam imitar Sócrates, conversando com eles e tentando fazê-los perceber o princípio de seus erros.
Mas eles não entendiam, nem tentavam entender e Sócrates foi ainda mais odiado, acusado de fazer lavagem cerebral nesta mocidade e, de certo, acusado de ser louco e ignorante.
